JNU has invited Sadguru for a lecture in one of its prestigious ceremony. The first question struck in my mind is – why Sadguru who calls himself a mystic? mysticism and rationality can't go together, though I know in India it is possible that we can have a religious ceremony even before launching a satellite. I am little bit shocked obviously. But at first I need to clear myself Why Not Sadguru.
To me Sadguru is a very brilliant orator, entrepreneur, motivator and obviously a provocateur. But, there is a big But in my mind, a person to whom thought is just a repetition of data, nothing good or new can come out of it, what can be his role to an institute like JNU, when we assume that modern science, arts, etc everything is an ever evolving and experiment based process of human thought!
To Sadguru, only thing ‘life’ and ‘being human’ matters. Both are very perplexing terms to me. To him ‘morality’ is a circus, morality to him only can inculcate the ‘Holier than thou’ feelings to us. Here I am again confused, he can’t distinguish between two words, ‘morality’ and ‘ethics’. He thinks in conception of morality and ethics we differ, but not in conception of Humanity. According to him there can’t be any thing like ‘bad tiger’, so there can’t be anything like ‘bad man’ if we allow us to grow full human. Now there is no distinct definition you can get from him what is this Humanness to him?
If humanness is being compassionate, reasonable, and sensible, then in other words these all are Morality! But in practical approach these are ethics which differ in man to man, culture to culture and nation to nation.
There are many more things in which I don’t want to argue, like his believe Kashi is mini cosmos, realistic approach of Shiva’s story in mythology, his story on Adiguru, whom he projects in his own symmetrical image tactfully, his so called enlightenment etc. All this things don’t make any sense to me. Many such things are there I feel a stupidity which is brilliantly projected.
You have not listened from him any strong stand against Asharam bapu, Ramdev etc. But he has very strong stand against our education system, thought process, morality, student politics, feminism etc. I know he has been invited many prestigious foreign institutes, I don’t fear, because they are not clapping in his each and every subtle twisted apparently unquestionable conclusions, they can distinguish, but we can’t. We have an era stuck fondness for religious stupidity. We want to believe we have a past of all great sciences, all answering formula of all riddles of universe. I fear that. Very slowly we were getting out of that self imposed brilliantly composed stupidity suddenly that time the cycle started to roll back. It’s not about India only whole world is trying to have a retrogressive metamorphosis nowadays.
So please, we don’t want any more pseudo science, we want real science which anyone can experience, conceive if he or she trains himself or herself in a proper way. We want real psychology instead of this provocative shallow sophist psychology. We have crores of Baba, crores of Sanyasi, crores of Ashram, still we are one of the most high ranking corrupted countries in the world, we are facing so many adulteries, rapes, terrorism, imbalance in our social structure that is really worrisome.
So no more spiritual entertainment, circus, romanticism please. We need more science, more clear and early justice and more real education. Enough is enough.
